Plankinton Is located 22 miles west of Mitchell, just off I-90 with a population of 691. A new public school was built in 2001 after a fire destroyed the old school, students K – 12. Plankinton has a public pool with an adjacent park. There is also a Westside Park with an adjacent pond, Jail Pond, which is stocked with fish. Making this park a great place for parents to teach their children to fish. Plankinton is located in the heart of hunting and fishing country.
